"Win, Lose or Chore - Making Your Man Miss the Football Could End Your Relationship"

London, 06 March 2008 — Taking your man to the shops could herald the end of a relationship as research published today reveals nearly a third (30%) would finish with their partner for forcing them to go shopping on a Saturday when their favourite game's on TV.

One in seven British men (14%) put doing the DIY or tidying the garden next on the list of 'relationship-busting' chores, with one in ten ranking a forced trip to the in-laws as the quickest way to singledom. Furthermore, 90% revealed they would actually pay to get out of Saturday afternoon chores — so watch out ladies, forcing your man to miss the football has never been so risky.

The research was commissioned by Orange to celebrate becoming the first UK mobile operator to offer its customers live coverage of every televised match of the Barclays Premier League — helping them to keep up-to-date with the ‘beautiful game' regardless of the chore.

In celebration of its position and to bring men some added retail happiness, Orange has also teamed up with ASDA, the leading shopping destination, to kit out its Wembley store with phone-equipped shopping trolleys so their customers can still watch live coverage of every match.

Steve Wallage, head of sports partnerships, Orange, commented; ""We felt we owed it to couples right across Britain to help them out with this age old problem. As we're the only UK operator to be in this position, we're glad we can help enhance the shopping experience and make it even more pleasurable for all parties concerned”.

The trolleys will be in ASDA's Wembley store at lunchtime on Saturday 8th March, during Manchester United's home FA Cup Quarter Final tie against Portsmouth, which is live on Sky.

Tony Cirillo, General Manager of ASDA Wembley said; “We're always open to new ideas to keep our customers happy and make their weekly shop more fun. What better way to do this than to make sure no-one need miss out on the footy, even if they are being lead round the supermarket by their other half!”
