Heart-throb Rob Lowe sizzles on screen in latest Orange cinema ad

London, 15 May 2008: Orange today announces that 80's cult heart-throb Rob Lowe is the latest film star to feature in the Orange Film Funding board series.

Set poolside in L.A., the ad features Lowe, a former 80's ‘Brat Packer', pitching his idea for a remake of the classic film ‘All the President's Men' (based on the Watergate scandal) to the Orange Film Funding Board. True to form, the Film Board interrupts the actor with their own ideas.

Rob Lowe: “1972 the United States government is on the verge of collapse””

Mr Dresden: “I'm sorry can I just interrupt you there — you have THE most incredible blue eyes I've ever seen!”

The Orange Film Board Execs are immediately overwhelmed by Robs dazzling good looks, and ignoring his suggestions, declare his pitch boring and decide to ‘sex-up' the film instead, with one mesmerized film exec declaring: “Oh my god Rob Lowe just looked RIGHT AT ME”.

Moving the theme on from ‘Watergate' to ‘water-based', they suggest that Lowe play the part of hunky lifeguard who brings down a corrupt coastguard by using a mobile phone. Orange Exec, Mr Dresden then flicks a skimpy black G-string (featuring an Orange logo) at the frustrated actor.

Mr Dresden: “Baby just relax - try these bad boys on for size” (flicks G-string at Rob)

Rob Lowe: “Would it be a bad thing if I strangled you with these right now?”

Mr Dresden: “As long as you look at me while you strangle me”I'd be fine with that”.

Orange have held the prestigious 65 second slot or ‘Gold Spot' since 2000, with the Film Funding Board creative starting in 2003.

The ad will run in cinemas across the UK from 16th May and has been designed to remind people to turn their phones off while in the cinema, running with the end-line “Don't let a mobile phone ruin your movie”

Rachel Macbeth, head of advertising and design, Orange UK said: “We are so excited about this new addition to the Orange Film Funding Board ad series. Watching Rob Lowe arguing with the Orange Film Board set against the Malibu coastline is truly an entertaining sight. Rob is a welcome addition to the ever popular ad series and we feel we have raised the bar with this ad.”

By starring in an Orange Gold Spot, Lowe is joining an elite club of Hollywood stars who have entertained UK cinema audiences in the mobile ads, including Snoop Dogg, Ewan McGregor, Steven Seagal, Darryl Hannah, Carrie Fisher and even Darth Vader. The Award Winning Orange Gold Spot series, including the new Rob Lowe ad, were created by advertising agency Mother.
