Orange introduces first ever £5 a month mobile tariff with inclusive benefits

  • Lowest monthly mobile phone contract prices set to shake up the mobile market
  • £5, £10 and £15 36 month new pay monthly plans give customers a handset when they take out the contract and another after 18 months
  • New SIM Only contracts offer greater choice and even better value

Orange today announces that it is extending its Pay Monthly (PAYM) range to include a £5 tariff, the lowest contract price point on the market, alongside new £10 and £15 monthly plans. Available from 1st June 2009, these 36 month great value plans provide customers with two handsets – one when they sign-up and another after 18 months. Orange will also introduce 18 month SIM Only contracts for the first time which provide customers with more inclusive minutes and text messages offering better value than ever before.

Neil Macgeorge, Director of Pay Monthly, Orange UK said: “In the current economic climate, the demand for both low-cost monthly plans which include a phone and SIM only deals has materially increased. These new 36 month phone plans starting at £5 will provide light users with more choice since currently their only option is a pay as you go package. They are ideal for people who don’t want to go through a top up process, are happy to commit to a contract, want the security of knowing that they won’t run out of credit and who want a phone included in the package. Some customers worry about handsets wearing out so the mid term replacement means they needn’t be concerned. We think that this is just the sort of innovative approach our customers need during these times.”

New Pay Monthly Tariffs

Orange’s new £5, £10 and £15 Pay Monthly tariffs offer customers excellent value for money by providing inclusive minutes and text messages on some of the lowest-priced plans available (detailed below): • £5 PAYM: 50 free minutes, 50 free texts and a Nokia 2630 handset • £10 PAYM: 100 free minutes, 300 free texts and a Nokia 3600 handset • £15 PAYM: 200 free minutes, unlimited* texts and a Nokia 6500 slide handset

After 18 months customers will be able upgrade their handsets.

New SIM Only Tariffs

Orange is also introducing 18 month SIM Only contracts for the first time. Starting from just £10 a month, these will provide up to 50% more inclusive minutes and text messages than the traditional rolling SIM Only contracts (detailed below): • Dolphin 10: 100 free minutes, 500 free texts • Dolphin 15: 300 free minutes, unlimited texts • Dolphin 20: 800 free minutes, unlimited texts • Dolphin 30: 1600 free minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data

SIM Only contract customers will also be eligible for our “Magic Numbers” scheme which provides inclusive, unlimited calls to their favourite Orange mobile numbers – allowing people to keep in touch with those that matter most.

Neil Macgeorge said: “Our Pay Monthly portfolio provides our customers with more options to meet their individual needs, which is extremely important in today’s current economic climate. For customers that are happy to keep their existing ‘phone, our new Sim Only contracts are ideal as they offer even greater value for money.”

These new tariffs will be available in all Orange stores, selected indirect partners, through telesales, and online at www.orange.co.uk from today. For a full list of terms & conditions please see www.orange.co.uk/mobileterms/
